| Kenny Faulk2013 Rank: 15 ETA: 2013 Position: LHP Age: 25, DOB: 05/27/1987 Bats: L, Throws: L Height: 6' 0", Weight: 235 Drafted: 2009, 16th (480) - DET Scouting Grades* (present/future): Fastball: 5/5 | Slider: 4/5 | Changeup: 5/5 | Control: 4/5 | Overall: 4/5 Since coming out of Kennesaw State, Faulk has shown the ability to miss bats and get lefties out. That’s a recipe to get to the big leagues, though the Tigers left him unprotected for the Rule 5 Draft and he went unselected. Faulk has struck out 11 per nine innings in his Minor League career, serving as at least a part-time closer in 2010 and 2011. Lefties hit just .183 against him 2012, the second straight season he’s kept them well under .200. With a fastball, slider and changeup, if he can tighten his command a little, he can be an effective reliever in all situations. At worst, he has the chance to be a specialist in the future. "If you have to choose between power and speed and it often turns out you have to make that choice, you've got to go for speed." Source: TV Guide Interview (April 3, 1982)-- Sparky Anderson |
