A 2-2 record with a 2.43 ERA in September helped Sanchez make his case to be the Game 3 starter of the ALDS. He has allowed one run in his past 15 1/3 innings. It will be Sanchez's first postseason start in his seven-year career.




Athletics: LHP Brett Anderson (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Anderson missed most of the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He debuted in August but strained his right oblique muscle on Sept. 19. This will be his first game after a three-week rehab.

• OF Ryan Raburn (right quadriceps strain, 15-day DL on September 11).
