Verlander was roughed up in his last outing against the Royals. He surrendered eight runs for the first time in three years and 12 hits for the first time in six years. He ended up pitching 5 2/3 innings and earned no decision.



White Sox: LHP Chris Sale (15-5, 2.81 ERA)

Sale said he "just didn't have it" on Tuesday against the Orioles, when he gave up four runs on six hits in four innings, striking out five but walking three. It was Sale's shortest start of the season.
