Tigers: RHP Anibal Sanchez (9-9, 4.60 ERA)

After posting a 1-3 record with a 7.97 ERA in his first four starts with the Tigers, Sanchez got an extended rest and responded by allowing one earned run in 6 2/3 innings against Toronto. He's never faced the Royals in his seven-year career.



Royals: LHP Bruce Chen (9-10, 5.41 ERA)

Chen pitched quite well last Friday in Boston, giving up three runs in six-plus innings for a no-decision. He seems to be back on track, winning two of his past four starts and keeping the Royals in the game each time. His nine wins lead the staff.
