Scherzer is 4-0 with a 2.81 ERA in his last five starts, striking out 35 batters over 32 innings over that stretch -- with three seven-inning outings. He beat Boston with a quality start on May 31 at Fenway Park, fanning six Red Sox in six frames.



Red Sox: RHP Clay Buchholz (8-3, 4.93 ERA)

The righty has been Boston's best pitcher since the break, going 0-1 with a 2.53 ERA in three starts. In nine home starts this year, he's 5-1 with a 4.83 ERA. He's 1-1 with a 3.83 ERA in seven career starts vs. the Tigers.
