TIGERS FALL TO BLUE JAYS IN GRAPEFRUIT LEAGUE FINALE: The Tigers suffered a 13-8 loss to the Blue Jays in the club’s Grapefruit League finale yesterday afternoon. Max Scherzer (1-2) took the loss for the Tigers. Miguel Cabrera and Danny Worth both belted home runs for Detroit.

BELOW RECALLED: The Tigers today have recalled the contract of lefthanded pitcher Duane Below from Triple A Toledo.

ALBURQUERQUE, MARTE PLACED ON 15-DAY DISABLED LIST: The Tigers today have placed righthanded pitchers Al Alburquerque and Luis Marte on the 15-day disabled list. Alburquerque underwent a surgical procedure to have a screw inserted into his olecranon to stabilize a non-displaced stress fracture in his right elbow, a procedure performed by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, FL on December 15, 2011. Marte suffered a left hamstring strain yesterday during his outing against the
Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin.

TIGERS PLAYING IN TOLEDO FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2000: The Tigers are playing the Mud Hens in an exhibition game for the first time since June 1, 2000, a game played at Ned Skeldon Stadium in Maumee, OH. The Mud Hens have been Detroit’s Triple A affiliate since 1987 and the club moved to Fifth Third Field at the beginning of the 2002 season.

GOING YARD: The Tigers are tops among American League clubs with 46 home runs in Grapefruit League action this spring.

BOESCH IS BASHING: Brennan Boesch hit safely in eight of his last nine games this spring, batting .387 (12x31) with three doubles, triple, three home runs and eight RBI. He is third in the Grapefruit League with 45 total bases this spring, while he is tied for third with six home runs and tied for fourth with 17 RBI.

DIRKS IS DIALED IN: Andy Dirks hit .485 (16x33) with eight RBI over his last 13 games for the Tigers this spring. He is tops in the Grapefruit League with a .429 batting average this spring, while he is tied for second with 24 hits.

DELMON DOES DAMAGE: Delmon Young is tops in the Grapefruit League with 48 total bases and 21 RBI this spring, while he is tied for second with 24 hits, is third with a .381 batting average and tied for third with six home runs.

RABURN ROLLING THIS SPRING: Ryan Raburn is third among all Grapefruit League players with 19 RBI this spring, while he is tied for third with 19 RBI.

• The Tigers' roster was bolstered by the West Michigan Whitecaps, Detroit's low Class-A team in the Midwest League. The Whitecaps, who met at their Grand Rapids, Mich., home Tuesday, bussed after the game to open the season at Dayton.

• Among the familiar names on the Whitecaps were Colin Kaline, Al Kaline's grandson; Patrick Leyland, Jim Leyland's son; and Nick Avila, Al Avila's nephew and Detroit catcher Alex Avila's cousin.
