TIGERS DEFEAT ASTROS AND METS IN SPLIT SQUAD ACTION: The Tigers knocked off the Astros 4-2 in Lakeland and the Mets 9-2 in Port St. Lucie yesterday afternoon. Doug Fister (4-0) picked up the win for Detroit over Houston, while Thad Weber (1-0) earned the win versus New York. Jhonny Peralta finished with a double, home run and three RBI against Houston, while James McCann collected three hits, including a home run, and four RBI versus New York.

GOING YARD: Through 31 games of Grapefruit League action this spring the Tigers have belted 42 home runs. Detroit is tops among all American League clubs with 42 home runs this spring.

BOESCH IS BASHING: Brennan Boesch has hit safely in six of his last seven games, batting .348 (8x23) with a double, triple, three home runs and six RBI. He is tied for second in the Grapefruit League with six home runs this spring, while he is sixth with 39 total bases and tied for seventh with 15 RBI.

DIRKS IS DIALED IN: Andy Dirks is hitting .464 (13x28) with six RBI over his last 11 games for the Tigers. He is tops in the Grapefruit League with a .412 batting average this spring, while he is tied for fifth with 21 hits.

TEN MINOR LEAGUERS JOIN TIGERS FOR TODAY’S GAME: The following 10 minor league players have joined the Tigers for today’s game versus the Blue Jays: righthanded pitchers Eric Heckaman (#38), Matt Little (#53) and Brian Stroud (#53), catcher James McCann (#81), infielders David Gonzalez (#67), Corey Jones (#25) and Dixon Machado (#29) and outfielders Luis Castillo (#28), Tyler Collins (#24) and Daniel Fields (#29).

TIGERS ESTABLISH ATTENDANCE RECORD: The Tigers have drawn 128,887 fans to the club’s 17 games this spring at Joker Marchant Stadium (including the game versus Florida Southern) to establish a new club record for attendance during Spring Training. This year’s attendance surpasses the previous record of 126,124 established in 2008.
