TIGERS DEFEAT PHILLIES, TIE YANKEES: The Tigers knocked off the Phillies 6-3 in Lakeland yesterday, while the other half of the split squad tied the Yankees 1-1 in Tampa. Phil Coke (1-0) earned the win for Detroit over the Phillies. Tyler Collins belted a three-run home run for the Tigers against the Phillies, while Delmon Young collected two hits versus the Yankees.

TIGERS TRIM SIX FROM ROSTER: The Tigers today optioned the contract of righthanded pitcher Jacob Turner to Triple A Toledo and reassigned righthanded pitcher Chris Bootcheck, infielders Audy Ciriaco, Argenis Diaz and Ryan Strieby and outfielder Quintin Berry to minor league camp. Detroit has 32 players remaining in camp following today’s roster moves.

GOING YARD: Through 23 games of Grapefruit League action this spring the Tigers have belted 32 home runs. Detroit is tops among all American League clubs with 32 home runs this spring.

STINGY STAFF: Tigers pitchers have compiled a 2.89 ERA through the club’s first 23 games of Grapefruit League action this spring. Detroit is second among all American League clubs with a 2.89 ERA.

DELMON DOES DAMAGE: Delmon Young has hit safely in 13 of his 17 games during Grapefruit League action this spring. He is tops in the Grapefruit League with a .422 batting average, 39 total bases and 19 RBI this spring, while he is second with 19 hits and third with five home runs.

RABURN ROLLING THIS SPRING: Ryan Raburn is tied the lead among all Grapefruit League players with six home runs this spring, while he is second with 18 RBI and third with 34 total bases.

EIGHT MINOR LEAGUERS JOIN TIGERS FOR TODAY’S GAME: The following eight minor league players have joined the Tigers for today’s game versus the Marlins: righthanded pitchers Michael Morrison (#71) and Tyler White (#17), lefthanded pitcher Shawn Teufel (#65), infielders Brandon Douglas (#73), James Robbins (#50) and Eugenio Suarez (#39) and outfielders Jason Krizan (#9) and Tony Plagman (#30).
