TIGERS RALLY TO DEFEAT THE PIRATES: The Tigers scored six runs in the ninth inning yesterday afternoon to defeat the Pirates 7-2 in Bradenton. Quintin Berry belted a grand slam for the Tigers, while Clete Thomas added a solo home run. Luis Marte (2-0) tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win for Detroit.

TIGERS OPTION WILK TO TRIPLE A: The Tigers today announced the club has optioned the contract of lefthanded pitcher Adam Wilk to Triple A Toledo. Detroit has 38 players remaining in major league camp following today’s roster move.

GOING YARD: Through 20 games of Grapefruit League action this spring the Tigers have belted 29 home runs. Detroit is tops among all American League clubs with 29 home runs this spring.

STINGY STAFF: Tigers pitchers have compiled a 3.00 ERA through the club’s first 20 games of Grapefruit League action this spring. Detroit is second among all American League clubs with a 3.00 ERA.

DELMON DOES DAMAGE: Delmon Young has hit safely in 12 of his 15 games during Grapefruit League action this spring. He is tops in the Grapefruit League with a .436 batting average, 36 total bases and 19 RBI this spring, while he is second with 17 hits and tied for second with five home runs.

RABURN ROLLING THIS SPRING: Ryan Raburn has hit safely in eight of his 11 games during Grapefruit League action this spring, including six of his last seven games. He is tops among all Grapefruit League players with six home runs this spring, while he is second with 34 total bases and 18 RBI.

NINE MINOR LEAGUERS JOIN TIGERS FOR TODAY’S GAME: The following nine minor league players have joined the Tigers for today’s game versus the Yankees: righthanded pitchers James Avery (#19), Jared Gayhart (#19) and Thad Weber (#36), catchers Curt Casali (#82) and Patrick Leyland (#77), infielders Brent Dlugach (#9) and Dixon Machado (#29) and
outfielders Daniel Fields (#29) and Steven Moya (#21).
