TIGERS FALL 4-3 TO THE PHILLIES: The Tigers suffered a 4-3 loss to the Phillies yesterday afternoon. Max Scherzer (1-1) took the loss for Detroit, allowing four runs in five innings of work. Brennan Boesch homered and drove in two runs for the Tigers, while Don Kelly added a single, double and an RBI.

TIGERS TRIM FOUR PLAYERS FROM ROSTER: The Tigers today announced the club has reassigned catcher Bryan Holaday, infielder/outfielder Eric Patterson and outfielders Jerad Head and Matt Young to minor league camp.

PORCELLO, SMYLY TO PITCH IN MINOR LEAGUE GAMES: Rick Porcello is scheduled to pitch in a minor league game on the back fields in Lakeland tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.,
while Drew Smyly is scheduled to do so on Thursday at 12:00 p.m.

GOING YARD: Through 17 games of Grapefruit League action this spring the Tigers have belted 24 home runs. Detroit is tops among all American League clubs with 24 home runs this spring.

STINGY STAFF: Tigers pitchers have compiled a 2.88 ERA through the club’s first 17 games of Grapefruit League action this spring. Detroit is second among all American League clubs with a 2.88 ERA.

EIGHT MINOR LEAGUERS JOIN TIGERS FOR TODAY’S GAME: The following eight minor league players have joined the Tigers for today’s game versus the Braves: righthanded pitcher Rob Waite (#47), lefthanded pitcher Kenny Faulk (#21), catchers Jeff Kunkel (#71) and Wes Thigpen (#26), infielders Corey Jones (#25) and Brandon Loy (#28) and outfielders Daniel Fields (#29) and Jason Krizan (#9).
