TIGERS BLANK THE METS: The Tigers knocked off the Mets 9-0 yesterday afternoon. Rick Porcello (2-0) tossed four shutout innings to earn the win for Detroit. Delmon Young finished with a single, double and two RBI for the Tigers.

TIGERS TRIM TWO FROM ROSTER TODAY: The Tigers today announced the club optioned the contract of righthanded pitcher Tyler Stohr to Double A Erie and reassigned lefthanded pitcher Darin Downs to minor league camp.

GOING YARD: Through 14 games of Grapefruit League action this spring the Tigers have belted 20 home runs. Detroit is tops among all American League clubs with 20 home runs this spring.

STINGY STAFF: Tigers pitchers have compiled a 2.63 ERA through the club’s first 14 games of Grapefruit League action this spring. Detroit is second among all American League clubs with a 2.63 ERA.

RABURN ROLLING THIS SPRING: Ryan Raburn is tops among all Grapefruit League players with 14 RBI this spring, while he is tied for the lead with four home runs and is second with 24 total bases.

THREE MINOR LEAGUERS JOIN TIGERS FOR TODAY’S GAME: The following three minor league players have joined the Tigers for today’s game versus the Cardinals: righthanded pitchers Jared Gayhart (#19) and Zach Samuels (#29) and lefthanded pitcher Ramon Garcia (#52).

LAUZON TO SERVE AS “MANAGER FOR A DAY”: Tom Lauzon is joining Jim Leyland to serve as the “Manager for a Day” during today’s game. Lauzon won the Detroit Tigers Foundation’s auction at the Keeping Kids in the Game event for the second year in a row.
