LOOKING BACK AT YESTERDAY’S ACTION:
The Tigers knocked off the Phillies 10-6 yesterday afternoon in Clearwater. Drew Smyly (3-0) earned the win for Detroit. Ramon Santiago belted a grand slam for the Tigers, while Don Kelly and Brayan Pena both finished with a home run and two RBI.

BOESCH RELEASED:
The Tigers today announced the club has unconditionally released outfielder Brennan Boesch. Detroit has 47 players remaining in major league camp following the release of Boesch.

TIGERS BATTLE FLORIDA SOUTHERN FOR 27TH TIME:
This afternoon marks the 27th time the Tigers have hosted Florida Southern College at Joker Marchant Stadium. Detroit leads the all-time series against Florida Southern 23-1-2. The series between the two teams began in 1979. Florida Southern picked up the win 5-3 in 1986, while the two clubs tied in 1992 (5-5 in nine innings) and in 2005 (2-2 in 10 innings).


WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC PARTICIPANTS:
The following five players from Detroit’s major league camp have been participating in the World Baseball Classic: righthanded pitchers Octavio Dotel (Dominican Republic), Shawn Hill (Canada) and Anibal Sanchez (Venezuela), second baseman Omar Infante (Venezuela) and third baseman Miguel Cabrera (Venezuela). Righthanded pitcher Warwick Saupold (Australia) and infielder Cale Iorg (Canada) departed Detroit’s minor league camp to participate in this year’s World Baseball Classic.
