TIGERS BLANK THE BRAVES 2-0 YESTERDAY AFTERNOON: The Tigers blanked the Atlanta Braves 2-0 yesterday afternoon at Champion Stadium in Kissimmee. Doug Fister (1-0) picked up the win for Detroit with two shutout innings, while Luis Marte worked a perfect ninth inning to register the save. Prince Fielder finished with two hits for the Tigers, while Jerad Head belted a solo home run. Argenis Diaz added an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

JUMPING TO THE HEAD OF THE CLASS IN HOME RUNS: Jerad Head belted a solo home run in his first at-bat of the spring with the Tigers yesterday afternoon at Atlanta. The home run ties him for the lead, along with seven other players, in the Grapefruit League.

TWO MINOR LEAGUERS JOIN TIGERS FOR TODAY’S GAME: The following two minor league players have joined the Tigers for today’s game versus Atlanta: righthanded pitcher Daniel Bennett (#52) and lefthanded pitcher Kenny Faulk (#21).
