Tigers complete deal with Red Sox
By Jason Beck / MLB.com | 04/02/11 9:00 PM ET

NEW YORK -- The Tigers have completed the offseason trade that sent infield prospect Brent Dlugach to the Red Sox by acquiring right-hander Pedro Perez. The announcement came on Saturday.

Detroit sent Dlugach to Boston last November for a player to be named. That ended up being Perez, who went 8-5 with a 3.94 ERA in 28 games for Class A Greenville in 2010. All but two of those appearances came in relief. Perez, who will turn 23 next month, struck out 75 batters over 93 2/3 innings, walking 36.

The Tigers assigned Perez's contract to short-season Class A Connecticut.
